Steven Duong2023-25 Creative Writing Fellow in Poetry

Steven Duong is a writer from San Diego, California. His poems appear in The American Poetry Review, Guernica, Catapult, The New England Review, and other publications. His short story "The Five-Year Plan," originally published in Catapult, was recognized as a Distinguished Story in The Best American Short Stories 2021.

Before coming to Emory, he was a Poetry Coalition Fellow with the Academy of American Poets and taught creative writing at the University of Iowa, where he received his MFA in Fiction. His current preoccupations include freshwater fishkeeping, the K-pop group NewJeans, and competitive Pokémon battles. He is at work on a collection of poetry and a novel.
